Hephaestus, Greek God of Smithing Statue
Hephaestus was one of the twelve Olympian Greek gods. Known as the god of fire, he was the workman of the immortals, making weapons for the gods on Mount Olympus.
As a smith, he is typically shown with the symbols of his craft: a hammer, anvil, and tongs. A vigorous man with a beard, Hephaestus had crippled feet and walked with a limp, possibly the result of a fall from Mount Olympus. But this god of blacksmiths, fire, craftsmen, and volcanoes had a palace in Olympus where he was revered for his skills and craftsmanship. As steel weapons purveyors ourselves, we are most impressed by Hephaestus being married to Aphrodite, the most desired female of the Greek deity pantheon.
This statue shows Hephaestus at the forge with his tools. Made in cold cast resin with a bronze finish.
